They orbit an alleged murder by Cusack’s rough-hewn alligator hunter: McConnaughey as a reporter who’s returned to his native backwater to investigate, Efron as his admiring younger brother, and Kidman as the Southern sexpot who’s pledged herself to the alleged killer.
