Suspended in the limbo between girlhood and womanhood, Alma (Sara Luna Zorić)—a Bosnian who, like writer-director Sendijarević, has been raised in the Netherlands—takes a trip to the homeland she barely remembers after her estranged father is admitted to a hospital in their Balkan birthplace, and finds herself embarking on a journey of disorienting self-discovery.
