After time in the early experimental film scene in LA and Hollywood studio lots, Harrington made his narrative feature debut with the gloomy, atmospheric "Night Tide", a loose reworking of Tourneur’s "Cat People" featuring a young Dennis Hopper as a sailor who falls in love with a woman who may be a real-life mermaid.
