Leaving November 1
Directed by Sebastian Schipper | 138 mins | 2015
Eschewing the digitally composited “single take” of "Birdman" for the real-deal, in-camera approach seen in "Russian Ark," this electric German thriller follows the titular Victoria (Laia Costa), a young Spanish woman who stumbles out of an early-hours Berlin nightclub and into a criminal adventure with four junge Männer—including ascendant arthouse pin-up Franz Rogowski. Goosed by an uneasy score from ambient piano-man Nils Frahm, Schipper’s bravura one-take caper continues to quicken the pulse and rattle the senses, a decade out from its buzzy release.
